How We Can Build Missouri Into The Best State for Business

Businesses are leaving states like California, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois by the thousands. The State Legislatures in these states have continuously raised taxes and business fees making it nearly impossible for businesses to operate profitably. Now thousands of business owners, CEO's, and entrepreneurs are packing up and moving their operations to business friendly states.

Savvy business owners know the best time to plan for future growth is during bad economic times. During a bad economy thousands of business owners make the decision to move a company to a more profitable business friendly state. Business owners are finding the best states for business by using search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

They are using search engines to find the best "small business state". If you use the simple Google keyword research tool you will find that over 18,000 searches were made in the last 30 days by business owners using Google to find the best state for their small business. These 18,000 business owners will never find Missouri on the search engines because Missouri's main economic development websites are not compliant by today's search engine standards. They are virtually invisible to search engines because they were developed using outdated website design technology and lack very basic search engine optimization practices. I want to change that.

To build Missouri into the best state for business it is imperative that Missouri's main economic development websites are brought up to current search engine compliance. We must ensure Missouri's business message is being delivered to the people that are searching for the best business state.

When you use a search engine to locate the best business state you will find numerous business websites that rank the best states for business. These polls are conducted by CNBC, Forbes, US News & World Report, the United States Tax Foundation, along with several other business media outlets. Unfortunately Missouri does not rank well in business polls which makes us very unattractive to a business owner or CEO that is searching for the best state for business. I truly love our State but as a small business owner myself, I agree that Missouri is a terrible state for business. I own a training company that trains other Missouri business owners and in the last three years I have personally trained over one thousand seven hundred small Missouri business owners. All the business owners I speak with agree Missouri can be very punitive to business owners. I want to build Missouri into a state that rewards business owners, not punishes them.

By viewing the polls that rank the best states for business you will also learn the state that consistently ranks at the top of the these polls is Virginia. The Virginia State Legislature has done an extraordinary job at attracting new business to their state via their incredible business development website www.yesvirginia.org. If you search Google for "best business state" you will first see a list of companies that rank the best states for business, then you will see Virginia's business development website, www.yesvirgnina.org. One reason Virginia consistently ranks at the top of the business polls is not only the fact that the Virginia Legislature is business friendly, but Virginia's main economic development website, www.yesvirgnia.org is using search engine optimization. This website plays a huge role in the record amount of businesses that relocate to Virginia since it ensures Virginia's business message reaches business owners searching for the best state for business.

We cannot deliver Missouri's business message until we rebuild our business development websites to meet current search engine standards. I propose we allow private companies to take over the search engine optimization efforts for Missouri's economic development websites. Privatization of Missouri's economic development websites will reduce labor costs for the Missouri Department of Economic Development and will ensure Missouri's economic development websites are brought up to current search engine standards at no cost to the State. Click here for specific details about my plan to allow private companies to maintain Missouri's business website. We must also upgrade the technology that we use to attract new business owners to the Show Me State. This will create Missouri jobs.

To build Missouri into our Nation's best state for business we must substantially reduce unnecessary business start up costs. One of the greatest expenses in opening a new business in Missouri can be our State's costly business surety bond requirement. A bond is a document that can be purchased from an insurance agent and must be renewed every year. A surety bond can add several thousand of dollars to business startup costs and yearly operating expenses. Click here to learn more about my plan to reduce Missouri surety bond requirements. The legislation I introduce to reduce Missouri's surety bond constraints will slash the costs of doing business in Missouri and will spur enormous business growth. It will also create jobs.

Before we build Missouri into the best state for business we must also simplify Missouri corporations classifications which happen to be some of the most complicated in the country. If you want to incorporate a business in Missouri, or upgrade your corporation you must navigate the very confusing Missouri Secretary of State's Schedule of Corporation Fees and Charges. It contains 68 complicated coporational instructions and will normally require costly legal advice before starting or expanding any Missouri business. I want to reduce the number of Missouri Corporations Classifications from sixty-eight to five straight forward categories. Click here to learn more about the legislation I will introduce to streamline Missouri corporations classifications. Simplifying the Missouri corporations process will make it less expensive to develop a Missouri business and allow out of state companies to relocate to Missouri without seeking costly legal advice. Simplifying Missouri Corporations Classifications will open the door to massive business expansion. It will also create Missouri jobs.

One of the most important tasks of building Missouri into our Nation's best state for business will be the reform of the Missouri Corporations Income Tax. I will implement a realistic 5 year phase out of the Missouri Corporations Income Tax when specific sales tax revenue goals have been met while giving immediate, permanent tax credits to every company that creates a new Missouri job. My plan to reform the Missouri Corporations Income Tax will generate a substantial increase in Missouri sales tax revenues that will lead to a balanced State budget by 2016. Click here to learn how these tax cuts will generate record sales tax revenues, or click here to view my detailed plan to phase out the Corporations Income Tax in five years. My plan for the reform of the Missouri Corporations Income Tax will motivate companies to relocate their entire workforce to Missouri while giving Missouri based companies tax incentives for every new employee hired. Reforming the Corporation Income Tax will create Missouri jobs.

If Missouri wants to be the best state for business we must abolish the unnecessary Missouri Franchise Tax. The Missouri Franchise Tax is charged to every business in Missouri that has a certain amount of assets located in the State. The Missouri Franchise Tax impedes the growth of Missouri businesses and makes Missouri very unattractive to any out of state business that is searching for the best state for business. Elimination of this Unnecessary tax will also generate additional sales tax revenue for Missouri. Click here to learn more about the legislation I will introduce to abolish the Missouri Franchise Tax. Elimination of the Missouri Franchise Tax will create new Missouri jobs.

In order for us to build Missouri into the best business state, we must begin an aggressive, targeted search engine marketing campaign to deliver Missouri's business message directly to the business owners, company CEO's, and entrepreneurs that are searching for the best state for business. The legislation I introduce to privatize the maintenance of the Missouri Department of Economic Development websites will free up additional funds to create a targeted search engine advertising campaign to promote Missouri's new business friendly environment. Click here for a detailed overview of my proposal for Missouri's business advertising campaign. An aggressive internet marketing campaign promoting Missouri's business message will attract new companies to Missouri. It will also create new Missouri jobs.

To build Missouri into the best state for business we must lower business startup costs, make it easier for a business to expand, and offer tax incentives that will not only keep businesses that are currently in Missouri from leaving, but will also motivate out of state companies to bring their business to Missouri. We must also revise Missouri's obsolete business websites and begin an aggressive internet business marketing campaign to inform companies all over the world the Missouri is the premier business destination of choice.

Building Missouri into our Nation's best state for business will create thousands of new Missouri jobs. Our opportunity is now. If you can visualize Missouri's success, please contribute by clicking here.

Together we can build Missouri into the best state for business. Together, we can create thousands of new Missouri jobs.
